  • Expiration date of notary commission
  • County of residence
  • Date notary public signs document must confirm that their commission is active on that day
  • Notary public seal

 

Please note:

 

  • Vital records issued by the county are NOT acceptable for an apostille.
  • Marriage certificates and divorce decrees must have been certified by the County Clerk in the county where the document was recorded.

 

Scanned Photocopy of Original Document

You will need to make sure of the following:

 

  • Appropriate signature is NOT provided
  • Original document is damaged
  • Original document was issued over 10 years ago
  • The destination country accepts apostilles for scanned photocopies of the original document; most countries do allow apostilles for scanned copies
  • You need the apostille within 24 hours

 

Please note:

 

  • Since the notary and apostille must be issued from the same state, the scanned photocopy of your original document will be notarized and apostilled in New York City.
